“Things that Matter”

Waking up each day. The sun shines on me too.
I am okay.

Remembering care… no matter how far away. Or only in memory.
Remembering the places I’ve been, the things I’ve seen.

I was so much smaller, unlearned, and so afraid.
And I survived.

What empowered me then, empowers me now, with the gift of years.

The pain follows too, but remember…
